Celebrate New Jersey's Rich Food Heritage

"Key Ingredients", the Smithsonian traveling exhibit, comes to New Jersey this summer.

Sponsored by the New Jersey Council for the Humanities, the exhibit is travelling around The Garden State from June, 2008 to March, 2009.

This exhibit traces the national story of food in America, from immigration to technological change and shows that New Jersey's history is intricately tied to food. As one of the most diverse and densely populated states in the country, NJ's food history is really the history of America.

Sites include Allentown, Woodbine, Tuckerton, Woodbury, Morristown and Trenton.  For more information go to: www.NJch.org/keyingredients or contact Mary Rizzo at 609-695-4838

Cultural acts and entertainment, displays, food vendors and activities for kids, of course. And once again, a very special swearing-in ceremony for New Jersey's newest US citizens.

Time: 11AM to 5PM
Location: South Riverwalk Park, Route 29, Trenton

NJ Students Take the Cake!

Courtesy of Mrs. Vaccaro's Class, BF Gibbs School, New Milford

Each student was assigned one of the counties in New Jersey.  They received a template of the shape and had to bake and decorate a cake to resemble their county.  Mrs. Vaccaro assembled all of the counties in the shape of New Jersey and invited the students and their families to eat the cake while Celebrating NJ!

Thank you New Jersey artists!

New Jersey Song Introduced in Legislature

New Jersey is one of the few states without it's own State Song.  Singer-songwriter Nelson Trout offers "New Jersey USA" as a possibility. Nelson tells us that Assemblyman Jeff Van Drew is introducing a bill to have this song become New Jersey's official state song.  Listen by clicking the link  http://cdbaby.com/nelsontrout2 and let him know what you think by email.
